The story of the PNW Dry Leash
In June 2020 when my partner and I adopted our scared, anxious pup, Pocket, we quickly learned how frustrating finding the right leash could be. The first was a retractable leash—I dropped it, and Pocket bolted, terrified as it chased her, running into traffic and hiding under a bush. It set us back weeks. Next came a series of disappointments: a heavy nylon leash, a smelly, soggy climbing rope leash, and a nylon lead that soaked up Seattle’s constant rain and turned into a muddy, heavy mess. I was tired of spending money on leashes that didn’t work.
So, I started making my own. It wasn’t easy. I made plenty of leashes that didn’t feel right or function well, but with every trial, I learned. After months of testing and refining, I created the PNW Dry Leash—lightweight, durable, stink-free, and easy to use and keep clean. Pocket ran it through the wringer: mud, rain, snow, and wet grass. It held up beautifully. I kept tweaking until it wasn’t just good—it was the best leash I’ve ever used. Simple, strong, and ready for any adventure.
